The Church

Limited Release Date: October 5, 2018
The minister of a once vibrant, landmark Baptist church, now struggling to survive, is the sole hold-out in a decaying Philadelphia neighborhood earmarked for gentrification. But ultimately, the preacher’s steely resolve to preserve his family’s evangelical legacy in the community and dwindling congregation dissolves under relentless pressure from his status-seeking wife and greedy church leaders lured by cash bribes and promises from unscrupulous developers to establish a flashy “mega-ministry” elsewhere. Soon, the spirits of founding congregational members – stirred from the disquiet of their graves by the remorseless trespasses of another generation – begin to make their displeasure known. As the sinners – abruptly and inexplicably bound within the confines of the sanctuary – fall prey, they must all re-examine their choices and bow to the will of the covenant, only to reveal the righteous among them.

Living in the Future's Past

Limited Release Date: October 5, 2018
TV-PG
In this beautifully photographed tour de force of original thinking, Jeff Bridges shares the screen with scientists, profound thinkers and hundreds of Earth’s living creatures to reveal eye-opening concepts about ourselves and our past, providing fresh insights into our subconscious motivations, their unintended consequences, and how our fundamental nature influences our future as humankind. Going beyond politics, borders, and boundaries, the film takes a good look under the "hood of humanity", shattering the old paradigm of how we look at our long-term challenges, what to do with our energy flows, and the “super-organism” of which we are all an integral part.

Junior rallies the local dance community to raise funds against all odds to save the dance studio, despite the gentrification efforts of his brother. Moynihan

Moynihan

Limited Release Date: October 3, 2018
Not Rated
Daniel Patrick Moynihan (1927-2003) did not just live in the twentieth century, he strode across it: a colossus of ideas and a man of deeds. He was a seminal public intellectual and sociologist, policy specialist, ambassador and long serving senator. Moynihan was a moralist in a political world where morality - the urge to do good - is often overcome by the desire to do well. He had, as one friend, recalled, a " mystical belief in public service." In an age of rigid ideologies and political sloganeering, he was a man who embraced the contradictions and complexity of public policy without ever despairing of the role of government in the lives of its citizens. A decade after his death, the first feature length documentary about his life captures Moynihan, the man, the thinker and the doer as never before.

Bad Reputation

Bad Reputation

Limited Release Date: September 28, 2018

Joan Jett is so much more than “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll.” It’s true, she became mega-famous from the number-one hit, and that fame intensified with the music video’s endless play on MTV. But that staple of popularity can’t properly define a musician. Jett put her hard work in long before the fame, ripping it up onstage as the backbone of the hard-rock legends The Runaways, influencing many musicians—both her cohort of punk rockers and generations of younger bands—with her no-bullshit style. Bad Reputation gives you a wild ride as Jett and her close friends tell you how it really was in the burgeoning ’70s punk scene, and their interviews are laced with amazing archival footage. The theme is clear: even though people tried to define Jett and keep her stuck to one hit, she never compromised. She will kick your ass, and you’ll love her all the more for it.
