If you are more of a single player gamer like me, don’t let the online nature of Fallout 76 put you off… it’s eminently playable as a single player experience. If you are put off by the issues mentioned at the start then maybe steer clear (or at least wait to see if patches address your concerns), otherwise I’d say grab the Deathclaw by the horns and jump in (but maybe wait till you have powerarmour to do that.).

Regardless of how Fallout 76 transforms and mutates in the months to come, the present version is a brave, imaginative, and rewarding exploration, but its true glory is revealed among friends.

In an effort to do everything, Fallout 76 fails to do any of it well enough to form an identity. Its multiplayer mindset robs its quests of all the moral decisionmaking that makes the series great, and all that’s left is a buggy mess of systemic designs that never seems to work together and regularly contradicts itself.

Fallout 76 meant to change the very concept of the series, but turned out to be a complete disaster. The game is not only boring and empty, but sometimes simply unplayable.

Fallout 76 could have been appealing. With its massive open-world, rewarding exploration and some interesting quests, it fails to be a good game because of too many game-design mistakes and technical issues.

I dreaded every hour I had to keep playing Fallout 76 for review. As soon as the game was beginning to teeter on fun or interesting, a bug or a frustrating gameplay design element would quickly remind me that the game was otherwise.

I would not have fun playing this game by myself, you really need friends to make this sort of game fun. This is the kind of game you joke around and goof off with while playing with your friends. Also for people complaining about bugs....this is a Bethesda game. What did you honestly expect? Also how many games are honestly perfect on release anymore. I have played a lot of MMORPGS over the years and that's what this is basically. If you don't like fetch quests, running long distances, lots of text to read if you want story of any kind, then do not play. I give it a solid 9 out of 10 though. Expand

You have your usual launch-time issues, but the amount of 0 reviews on this page is nothing short of ridiculous. In an endeavor to try to get some real constructive criticism out, instead of review bombing, I'll outline my thoughts on the commonly cited issues with the game.

    1. Buggy game! Yes, the game has bugs upon release. It's a Bethesda game, to be expected. It's disappointing, especially given how old the Creation Engine is, but it's a Bethesda game. They always have bugs. None of them have been game-breaking for me thus far, but they are annoying.

    2. Game doesn't feel like Fallout! If you say that, I'd wonder which Fallout you are referring to? If you're referring to Fallout old-school, definitely. If you're referring to any of the Bethesda/Obsidian Fallouts, I'd beg to differ...sort of. There is a lack of NPCs, yes. There is a lack of memorable LIVING characters, but there is absolutely nothing true to the claims that there is no story/quests/characters worth getting to know. In this Fallout, you are coming out of Vault 76 into a Wasteland where all of the survivors have been killed off. Very realistic given that it's only 25 years after the bombs dropped. Instead of being able to meet characters, you find information about them, listen to their voices tell their stories, and even find some of their bodies. This is a new approach, and frankly one that is interesting in its execution, if not clunky in the way that trying to listen to tapes in a MMO that's constantly sending hostiles at you is going to be clunky. Yes it's different, but also somewhat the same.

    3. PvP is terribly implemented! Yes. Very much this. Terrible. It is very similar to the way The Division's PvP is set up. Absolutely atrocious and needs revamped/revisited.

    4. No story or quests or content! First off, look at 2 above. Secondly, this game feels a lot more sandboxy than your traditionalized MMOs. There are quests and there is content, but because of how the content is implemented, there's a TON of room for player-created content. Think the original Star Wars Galaxies (before they tried to turn it full MMO). You had only mission terminals, a couple of long quests, and the rest was all player made. In a MMO world dominated by games like WoW and ESO, of course it will feel less content rich...except Fallout 76 isn't trying to be either one of those.

In short, there's a ton of work that needs done on the game, and I hope Bethesda ups their timetable on adding NPCs to the game in some form. That said, the game is definitely flawed and definitely feels rushed, but it's isn't a 0, nor is it a 10. It's definitely inbetween.

The storytelling,The graphics are the exact same as the old 2015 Fallout 4 outdated graphics, with a slightly change on saturation and color. The storytelling, oh my, the quests are awful and empty, "go there and grab that", it's like playing a poorly made 2007 RPG. The engine it's a horrible 2007 super-outdated system, witch sometimes can't even render 20 meters in distance. Overall, a terrible piece of work, a broken mess with uncoutable bugs. Please, bethesda, bring back Obsidian Entertainment and make a Fallout new vegas 2, it's all we ask for! Expand
