    features:

    * Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
    * Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
    * Original art and soundtrack brimming with personality.
    * Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
    * Created mostly by one person.
    * Become friends with all of the bosses!
    * At least 5 dogs.
    * You can date a skeleton.
    * Hmmm... now there are 6 dogs...?
    * Maybe you won't want to date the skeleton.
    * I thought I found a 7th dog, but it was actually just the 3rd dog.
    * If you play this game, can you count the dogs for me...? I'm not good at it.

What else can I say? Undertale is spectacular, even three years later. It’s a game that deserves every bit of praise that it receives, and a game that the people who love it are going to remember for a long, long time. I can’t express how happy I am to have had the opportunity to experience it again on the Switch.

One of the most original modern JRPGs of all time, and beatable at the fraction of the time. Once you get over its primitive aesthetic, you’ll soon realise why everyone else has been so captivated by Toby Fox’s creation.

Undertale is a brilliant and smartly designed game that understands well what makes a good RPG work; so much so that it can upend expectations and deliver something that’s almost a satire of the genre. It’s been a long time since we’ve played a game that manages to surprise so often and in so many unique ways, and even if it doesn’t look like much, Undertale has way more going for it under the surface. Excellently written characters, a genre-bending battle system and a solid soundtrack make this one an easy recommendation, especially to RPG lovers. Do yourself a favour and give this one a download.

Going through the experience today, it’s easy to see why Undertale was the talk of the town two years ago. It’s not an overly long playthrough, but it’s an impactful 7+ hours. A slow burn that starts off cute, but builds up to an absolutely thrilling last couple hours. I’m not sure if the Pope has gotten around to playing it yet, but he would be doing himself a disservice if he hasn’t.

Toby Fox's work is not just an anecdote: it is perfectly well-thought out. It hides something that connects directly or indirectly to anyone who has spent too much time with a gamepad in his hands.

The game is every bit as charming, challenging, and harrowing as it was the first time around.

It looks and sounds beautiful. The characters all have their own special charm. The world around you is wonderfully designed. The music is amazing. The stories are very well done, namely the Pacifist story. If that didn't give it away, this is one of those games where every single choice you make affects the ending of the game. Say you don't kill anything and do a bunch of other really specific stuff. You'll get the Pacifist ending. If you play through the game normally (and most likely blindly), you'll get the Neutral ending. But if you literally go around hunting for enemies to kill, eventually none will show up. Do this in every area of the game, and you'll get the Genocide ending (and one of the hardest boss fights every made). Overall, Undertale is modern masterpiece. Just don't go looking up fan-art of Undyne x Alphys... I've seen some s***. Expand

There is so much to love about Undertale. i have played hundreds of video games in my life, but nothing ever made me feel quite this wayThere is so much to love about Undertale. i have played hundreds of video games in my life, but nothing ever made me feel quite this way before. Taking inspiration from the Earthbound series for its quirkiness and sincerity, Undertale twists that formula into something new. Instead of kids against a world of corrupt adults and alien beings, we have in this game a lone child thrust into a society of mostly well-meaning monsters. Will you disrupt the monsters' world with your entrance, or will you find a way to see them as people, too?

I find it hard to rank my favorite video games, but I think more fondly of my time with Undertale than I do of any other game. That may change with time, of course, but I can't think of another experience that generated this kind of instant nostalgia. I can't recommend this game enough. Please do yourself a favor, give it a try -- and don't go looking for spoilers!!!

I have always looked away from this game until now that it's on switch and I realize now I was such an idiot. This game uses mechanics I haveI have always looked away from this game until now that it's on switch and I realize now I was such an idiot. This game uses mechanics I have never seen in an RPG where your skill can decide how much damage you take / give while most RPG's make me just click the a button to skip the text and attack again. Also, while most games just show one method of defending, this game shows different methods of defending and sometimes attacking but never stalls on it so you can have a new experience and not have to play a repetitive game over and over.

UnderTale also has great replay-ability because even though the map does not change, your actions on certain people can change how the game is played and theirs multiple endings to make the game always feel new and fresh.

When I was a child I had this ability known as "Sucking at games" which would make the game way more fun learning and getting better at bosses like Mario Galaxy 2 the Perfect Run would just be a good time spender but games will all use the same format which is why i have lost the feeling of learning a game but this is new and inspiring giving me the nostalgic feeling I have wanted for a long time, learning, trying different methods of killing bosses.

In conclusion, UnderTale has a great story line with new kinds of methods of attacking and defending and in my total of 10 hours of playing I can say this is one of the best games I have ever played and I'm not just saying that because everyone else likes it, It has a great chunk of story on it's bones and I can't wait to see whats the next ending I can get. Thank you Toby Fox for giving me this feeling again I haven't felt in a long time.

Don't believe the lies. There are those who will tell you that Undertale is one of the most unique, charming, and creative RPGs ever made.Don't believe the lies. There are those who will tell you that Undertale is one of the most unique, charming, and creative RPGs ever made. There are people who will tell you that the music is spectacular, that the characters are incredibly likeabe, and that Toby Fox has crafted one of the most beloved video games of all time.

These people have NEVER played a video game before or since they played Undertale. The game offers nothing of value as a video game. The gameplay is lackluster and uninspired. The plot, clearly designed to subvert JRPG tropes, feels hackneyed and forced. And the often praised humor reminds me of how children will do something stupid and laugh.

It falls far short of the games that very clearly inspired it. Earthbound, Cave Story, Shin Megami Tensei, and its contemporary indie titles, such as Shovel Knight, Freedom Planet, Stealth 2, Thumper, or virtually any other major indie Switch release.

Undertale is increasingly garnering a reputation for being one of the most overhyped video game titles ever made. It is amazing how fans of the title, to this day, write off very real criticisms towards the game under the belief that the game is only disliked because of how popular it is.

If the game was actually good, how the fans behave should not matter.

If you do not already know who Toby Fox is you will not enjoy Undertale. It is not a good game.
